Rum Tum TuggerThis is a featured page

The Rum Tum Tugger is a curious cat. His signature ruff sets him apart from the others. He is the pop star of the tribe and considers himself highly.Rum Tum Tugger - The Jellicle Junkyard He is black with is belt and ruff. He has quite defined lip and eye lines. In "Jellicle Songs for Jellicle Cats" and "The Naming Of Cats" he has not got his ruff or all his hair.

He has many fans among the kittens both male and female. Ecetera and Electra are particularly excited at the sight of him. They always try to get close to him. The male cats all want to be like him; having kittens falling all over them. However not all the kittens are happy with him and his fan club. Quaxo thinks he is a bore. The older cats are also not happy with his flirtatious ways. They do not like the kittens being around him. They know he is deceiving them but there is nothing they can do to stop him.

He is often found up on the rise instead of with the rest of the tribe. Old Deuteronomy and the Addressing of Cats are some examples of this. He tries to be the star of the Pekes and the Pollicles by playing the bagpipes.

He is the flirty tom believed to be Old Deuteronomy's son. He is often around the great leader on the rise. He flirts constantly with the kittens and sometimes with the other queens. Ectetera, as has been mentioned above, he flirts with often. He also flirts with Bombalurina and she flirts with him. In "The Rum TuRum Tum Tugger - The Jellicle Junkyardm Tugger" he flirts with Bombalurina in particular. After a bit when she flirts with him, he drops her (literally) for the kittens. She is angry and jealous but he continues to ignore her even when she tries again. He just pushes her away and seems proud of it! To see more about what we think has happened between these two lovebirds, check out some theories about them here.

At the ball, he takes her back at the end of Bombalurina's solo. When he carries her off, the other toms dance but behind them, he gently lowers her and holds her hands. He may have taken her back and he may not have. He might be putting on an act for the kittens. Maybe not. Lots of mystery surrounds this cat even though he is outgoing and appears often throughout the musical. He appears to not care as much about the safety of the tribe as Munkustrap, never being seen helping anyone when Macavity is around.

He isn't much seen unless he has a solo. He doesn't appear in many scenes but when we does he usually has a solo. His solos are usually quite long and often more lively than other parts of the musical. His character is played well by John Partridge. He adds flair to the tribe and flirting on a daily basis is normal. Don't get too close to this tom! You never no if he will let you down!
